Adverbial Clause of Time: Before, after, when, whenever, while, as, since, till, until, as soon as ইত্যাদি দ্বারা শুরু হয়।

When I was 5, I went to a school.

The patient had died before the doctor came.

Adverbial Clause of Time হলো এমন এক ধরণের Subordinate Clause যা বাক্যের মূল কাজ বা ঘটনাটি কখন (When) ঘটছে বা ঘটবে তা নির্দেশ করে। এটি মূলত বাক্যের Principal Clause-এর Verb-কে বিশেষায়িত করে সময়ের প্রেক্ষাপট বর্ণনা করে।

১. সাধারণ কানেক্টর বা সূচক শব্দসমূহ:

এই Clause-গুলো সাধারণত নিচের Subordinating Conjunction-গুলো দিয়ে শুরু হয়:

• When (যখন)

• Whenever (যখনই)

• While (যখন/সেই সময়ে)

• Before (পূর্বে)

• After (পরে)

• Since (থেকে/পর থেকে)

• Until / Till (পর্যন্ত/যতক্ষণ না)

• As soon as (মাত্রই/সাথে সাথে)

• As (যখন)

২. গঠনের উদাহরণ:

ক) নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে (When/Whenever):

• উদাহরণ: I will go to bed when I finish my homework.

• ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে 'when I finish my homework' অংশটি ঘুমানোর সময় নির্দেশ করছে।

খ) সমসাময়িক কাজ বোঝাতে (While/As):

• উদাহরণ: The phone rang while I was having dinner.

• ব্যাখ্যা: রাতের খাবার খাওয়ার সময়ে ফোনটি বেজেছিল।

গ) কাজের আগে বা পরে বোঝাতে (Before/After):

• উদাহরণ: Wash your hands before you eat your meal.

• উদাহরণ: He came to see me after he had completed the task.

ঘ) কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময় থেকে শুরু হওয়া বোঝাতে (Since):

• উদাহরণ: It has been five years since we last met.

ঙ) স্থায়িত্ব বা সীমা বোঝাতে (Until/Till):

• উদাহরণ: Wait here until the rain stops.

চ) দ্রুততা বা তাৎক্ষণিকতা বোঝাতে (As soon as):

• উদাহরণ: As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away.

৩. টেন্স (Tense) ব্যবহারের বিশেষ নিয়ম:

Adverbial Clause of Time-এ ভবিষ্যৎ কাল বা Future Tense-এর অর্থ প্রকাশ করলেও সাধারণত Present Indefinite Tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।

• ভুল: I will call you when I will arrive.

• সঠিক: I will call you when I arrive.
